The position of the botflies within the order Diptera has long been the subject of debate. Emden (1940), and Oldroyd (1949) have followed Hendel in considering the family a member of the Acalypterae. In this paper we, too, are of this opinion. The larvae of these flies parasitize the equids and the rhinoceros.
