oa Journal of the Entomological Society of Southern Africa - Subfamily Lomatiinae
The limits of this subfamily are currently very ill defined. In so far as the Ethiopian fauna is concerned it contains, following Hesse's definition, the genera Lomatia Meig., Pteraulax Bezzi, Pteraulacodes Hesse, Petrorossia Bezzi, Chionamoeba Sack and Chiasmella Bezzi, and, if one accepts Bezzi's rather dubious allocation of a species from Ethiopia, Aphoebantus Loew. However, the genus Chionamoeba is transferred, for reasons given below, to the Anthracinae; Chiasmella, unknown to me, is obviously so close to Chionamoeba, indeed is dealt with by Engel as no more than a subgenus of the latter, that it too should be transferred to the Anthracinae.
