This genus contains a number of very short, stocky, thick bodied brown and white or black and white species with very elongate hairs thickly distributed over the body. The fore tibiae are diagnostic, being flattened and expanded throughout with a complete row of sharp elongate spines (sometimes worn to blunt stubs) along at least the outer tibial margin. The head, pronotum dorsally and the scutellum are shining and non-pruinose. The fore femora are mutic, fore coxal cavities open, antennae short and clavate, scutellum with a broad elevated shining T-shaped central and basal elevation which laterally is produced into a short tubercle. The mesosternum possesses a deep median furrow, the scent gland auricle is broad and rounded and the apical corial margin deeply concave anteriorly.
