oa Journal of the Entomological Society of Southern Africa - Abstract - Einleitung

A taxonomic study is presented on the family Scydmaenidae excluding the tribes Cephenniini and Mastigini. Material was available from the Republic of South Africa and South West Africa (Namibia), as well as from Rhodesia and Mozambique. Keys are provided in the first geographical group for species of genera Scydmaenus Latreille and Oneila Peringuey, and for those species of the genus Euconnus Thomson which can be assigned to the subgenera, Tetramelus Reitter and Magellanoconnus Franz. Keys are not provided to species which are not considered to be representative for their respective areas or taxa. In all 128 new species are descriptionbed and supplementary notes, figures and distribution records are given to some of the earlier descriptionbed species.
