Generic diagnoses, keys to species and new species descriptionptions are given for Elampus Spinola and Omalus Panzer (Chrysididae). Three new species of Elampus (guillarmodi, namibiensis, senegalensis) and one new species of Omalus (confusus) are descriptionbed. In addition, the new genus Parachrum is descriptionbed for the species Hedychrum apiculatum Edney comb. nov.
Gas chromatographic and mass spectrometric analyses of the chemical components of the mandibular glands of workers of the South African ground nesting stingless bee Trigona denoiti were undertaken. These revealed an increase in the absolute quantities and the diversity of chemical compounds with age.
Twenty-three species representing 12 families of beetles collected from poultry manure in the eastern Cape are identified and listed. The most numerous species was Carcinops troglodytes and five species were uncommon. Seasonal variation in numbers is descriptionbed. Laboratory feeding preference was determined. The results indicate that beetles are important in natural control of house flies. The importance of management practices that keep the manure dry and favour predators and parasitoids, is emphasized.

Embrikillium is elevated from subgeneric rank under Oedisterna Lacordaire and transferred to the Chalcophorini from the Psilopterini. Chalcoplia patricia is transferred to Embrikillium. A new species, E. cupriventre, is descriptionbed from the western Cape Province. Host information is provided for both species and both are illustrated.
Glyptoglossa acta, sp. nov., G. alia, sp. nov., and G. capensis, sp. nov., are descriptionbed. Lectotype and paralectotypes are designated for G. dispar Peringuey. All previously descriptionbed species are redescriptionbed and all known species in the genus are placed in a key.
Katonius Thery, is elevated from a subgenus of Coroebus Gory & Laporte and discussed in relation to other Coroebini. Coroebus usumbarae Obenberger is transferred to Katonius and C. jakohsoni Obenberger is proposed as a new junior synonym of C. usumbarae. Wendleria is reviewed and two new species, W. bicolor from Sierra Leone and W. adamantina from .Malawi, descriptionbed. Brief comments concerning tribal characteristics are given. A key is provided for the separation of the 50 genera of Coroebini from subsaharan Africa.
Goniozus natalensis Gordh, a parasitoid of Eldana saccharina Walker, was collected from the late larval instars found in Cyperus papyrus L. umbels in north eastern Natal (Republic of South Africa), Malawi and Botswana. A method of rearing this species in the laboratory on E. saccharina larvae in sugarcane, and aspects of its biology are descriptionbed.
A second species, alpinus n. sp., in the genus Peckolus, is descriptionbed, figured, and compared to the type species, parvus Scholtz & Howden. The new species occurs in relict native forest near Graskop and Pilgrim's Rest, Transvaal.
