oa Journal of the Entomological Society of Southern Africa - A survey of the Argentine ant, Iridomyrmex humilis (Mayr), (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in South African fynbos

Abstract

The Argentine ant, lridomyrmex humilis, was found to have spread into the fynbos, the heath-like shrub vegetation of the south-western part of South Africa. This survey has shown that the presence of this ant is associated with disturbance by man. Remote areas were still free from it.
