Extracted from text ... Quality of life is a relevant measure of clinical efficacy and is important for achieving optimum compliance with antihypertensive treatment. The highly effective antihypertensive agent and specific ?1-blocker, bisoprolol (Concor) has recently been shown in a double-blind study in elderly hypertensive patients to achieve improvement in mood states.1 Patients, assessed at 24 weeks by the profile mood states, experienced a significant improvement in tension/anxiety, anger/ hostility, vigour/activity and confusion/ bewilderment scores.
