Reducing dementia and cognitive decline in stroke patients Blood pressurelowering therapy based on the longacting ACE inhibitor perindopril reduces by onethird the risk of dementia and by nearly a half, the risk of severe cognitive decline following recurrent stroke, according to new data from the landmark PROGRESS (Perindopril pROtection aGainst REcurrent Stroke Study) presented at the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) meeting.
