Abstract

Extracted from text ... Improvement in small artery function in type 2 diabetes following candesartan cilexitil treatment A recent trial of angiotensin II receptor blockade on vessel function, measured by pressure myography, has shown that even brief treatment (12 weeks) with candesartan cilexitil (Atacand) is associated with a significant improvement in resistance vessel endothelial function.1 This randomised, double-blind, placebo- controlled, parallel study was performed in 32 patients with type 2 diabetes, with and without hypertension. Patients were randomised to placebo or candesartan 8 mg daily for four weeks, which was then increased to 16 mg daily in all patients. Small arteries 63 to 230 ?m ..
