Professor Michel Bertrand, visiting South Africa soon after the American College of Cardiology 54th Annual Con gress meeting, focused on the importance of achieving reperfusion as early as possible in the management of acute coronary syndromes. 'In my view, substantiated by recent trials, therapy of aspirin and clopidogrel (300 mg) should be started in the ambulance, preferably within 90 minutes of the event. This simple solution will soon be part of all international guidelines', Prof. Bertrand noted.
