Abstract

A general overview is given of the responsibility of the school and the role the school can play in the prevention of sexual abuse, and the training and involvement of teachers in this connection. Steps taken to counter possible sexual abuse and to attend to specific cases of identified abuse are indicated. Mention is also made of the extent to which the problem is approached in a multi-disciplinary way. The article addresses the topic from a South African point of view.
