The analysis of the 100 Mc sec nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of 1?,2?-O-isopropylidene-3?-O-acetyl-4?-cyanotetrahydrofuran -1?,2?,3?-triol yields three vicinal and six long-range coupling constants across four and five saturated bonds. The signs of most of these constants have been determined by spin decoupling experiments. The conformation of the compound is obtained from the vicinal coupling constants, and the long-range couplings are viewed with respect to the geometry of the molecule.
