oa Comparative and International Law Journal of Southern Africa - The developing law of air hijacking

 

Abstract

The frequency of hijacking events continues to underline the need to develop effective international arrangements binding on each and every state to deal with the problem of air piracy. The purpose of this paper is to examine the existing state of the law governing the unlawful seizure of aircraft and to indicate the extent to which acceptable legal solutions may be found. In the main the paper suggests the creation of an international criminal court.
