Extracted from text ... THE AREAS SURROUNDING the Luvuvhu River require additional water mainly for domestic use. Many years of investigation, planning and preparatory work culminated in the construction of Nandoni Dam. The site is rich in evidence of Early Iron Age settlements - hence the name Nandoni, which means 'place of the iron smelters'. Construction of the dam inevitably had a significant impact on local communities.
