The Nasrec Transportation Hub roof is a boomerang-shaped steel structure constructed from circular hollow sections and I-beams. It is 211 m long. In section, the roof resembles an aircraftwing and incorporates bullnose-curved edges and various sheeting materials. Of structural and architectural interest are the columns which are at inclined angles, eventually leaning towards the Soccer City Stadium (which was a requirement from the architect). This causes significant axial tension forces to develop in the main longitudinal beams.
