Abstract

The new station is to be built to replace a station completed in 1932. Since that date the number of passengers using the station has more than quadrupled, while the Reef population has doubled. The station will be of the through type and will have 16 passenger platforms and two through tracks for goods trains. There will ultimately be six approach tracks at either end of the station. The track ladders at the ends of the station will be at an angle of I in 7 to the main lines and I in 7 outside slips will be used for connecting to the various platform tracks.
