Within the SAICE family, the Project Management and Construction Division (PMCD) looks after the Institution's dispute resolution service. The service includes the processing of applications for listing on the SAICE President's list of Mediators, Arbitrators and Adjudicators, and applications for the President to appoint any of these dispute resolution practitioners to a specific contract or dispute. (Application forms are available from the SAICE website, or can otherwise be obtained from SAICE National Office.)
The Civil Engineering University Research and Investigation Project (IP) is part of the national curriculum for final-year civil engineering undergraduate students. Students are required to select an issue, which is current in the industry, and thereafter conduct research in accordance with pre-set deliverables over a fixed period leading up to the final year examinations.
SAICE would like to honour some of its long-standing members who sadly passed away this year. SAICE and the industry have come far since these members first joined the Institution, and there is no doubt that they have contributed meaningfully to this growth in the civil engineering environment.
