We receive numerous complaints about the way in which the scope and magnitude of remuneration for professional services are either forced upon or negotiated with professional civil engineers and technologists. In lean and hungry times the temptation to GO FOR IT becomes unbearable. But do we as a profession realise the damage we cause in participating in these practices? Do we advise our clients and customers of the pitfalls? Do we sometimes close our eyes and minds and hope for the best?
