oa Civil Engineering = Siviele Ingenieurswese - Water hammer tests on pipelines

Abstract

Water hammer tests were conducted on a 13-mile long pipeline for the purpose of studying the pressure transients following the closure of a valve. Pressure recordings, observed at both ends and at the mid-part of the pipeline, are reproduced in this paper. The recordings are compared with computed values, and good correlation is found.
