oa Civil Engineer in South Africa - Koeberg radiation hazards : invited review and discussion

Abstract

The key issue is population growth. We have seen the population of the Cape double five times in the past 160 years. This gives an average doubling time of 32 years and we are at present on a doubling time of 28 years. Is a great ribbon of living space going to be required around the reactor site at Koeberg? This is a fundamental issue that we must consider. This is why we need to sharpen our environmental planning by means of environmental impact assessments.
