oa Civil Engineer in South Africa - Shear in a reinforced concrete skew bridge deck : technical paper

 

Abstract

In order to study the significance of observed inclined cracks and calculated shear concentration in an existing road-over-rail skew bridge deck, a quarter-scale model was tested in the laboratory. This paper concentrates on the experimental study. Flexural strength was obtained despite obtuse corner shear and free-edge inclined cracking.

'n Kwartskaal model van 'n bestaande pad-oor-spoor-skuinsbrug is getoets in die laboratorium met die doel om die betekenis van opgemerkte skuinskrake langs die vryrand te bepaal. Die eksperiment kan ook lig werp op berekende skuifspanningkonsentrasies langs die vryrand en in die stomphoek. Die sterkte in buiging van die dek is bereik nieteenstaande gemete pons in die stomphoek en aansienlike krake langs die vryrand.
