Abstract

By die ontwikkeling van ontwerpkriteria vir 'n struktuurmateriaal is dit nodig om die gedrag van die materiaal en van die struktuurdele goed te verstaan. In hierdie studie is die gedrag van enkel en dubbel simmetriese kolomme bestudeer wat vervaardig is uit koudgevormde tipe 3CR12 korrosiewerende staal. Hierdie staal is 'n gewysigde Tipe AISI409 vlekvrye staal wat deur Middelburg Steel and Alloys ontwikkel en vervaardig is.

The development of design criteria for a given material requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of the behaviour of the material and structural members fabricated from that material. This paper is devoted to the study of the behaviour of singly and doubly symmetric columns cold-formed from Type 3CR12 corrosion-resisting steel. This steel is a modified Type AISI409 stainless steel, developed and manufactured as a 12% chromium-containing corrosion-resisting steel by the speciality steel-producing company, Middelburg Steel and Alloys.
