Abstract

Consultants appointed by the East Rand Regional Services Council have prepared a strategy and master plan for water supply, storage and distribution for the East Rand region. The work comprises an analysis of significant water consumption and supply, a review of existing and planned water infrastructure in the region, and identification of overlaps or areas not addressed, followed by a programme of action. Present and predicted land use information is recorded on GIS and, together with a water consumption model (with parameters derived from sample areas), is used to predict future water consumption.
