Abstract

Focuses on a rather inconspicuous votive altar excavated on the site of the Axlepieion which had an inscription in Latin - something out of the ordinary in Pergamum. Closer inspection showed that the that the dedicator had been the 'lictor proxumus', i.e. chief lictor of a proconsul of Asia, whose name (in the genetive) reads as [sex] Noni Qvinctiliani.
