Abstract

Every society sets goals and standards for its members and provides guidelines for these to be obtained and maintained. The maintenance system involves rewards for compliance and punishment for non-compliance with the set societal standards. Inherent in this system are the issues of right-wrong, good-bad, acceptable-unacceptable, and the judge-judged.
