Personal safety and crime prevention should be the aim of each member of the community. The police on its own cannot prevent crime and secure household properties effectively without the residents' contribution. The public must take measures to prevent crime and protect themselves, their families and their homes from victimisation. It is essential to be aware of obvious criminal opportunities, one's own vulnerabilities and the precautions that can be taken to avoid potentially dangerous situations.
