Reports on the physical, verbal, and economic victimisation of parents by their children are appearing in the media with alarming frequency. Articles in popular magazines such as Personality Magazine (Parents don't crack up - or do they? 1989), and Woman's Value (Silent victims: parents of rebellious children, 1993) emphasise that in addition to often being the victims of their children, virtually no recognition is given to this fact.
