oa CSIR Science Scope - Sequencing the complete genome of a South African cholera bacterium : the interface : human-environment

Abstract

The CSIR is sequencing the complete genome of a South African cholera bacterium using cutting-edge 454-sequencing technology provided by research partner Inqaba Biotec. Once completed, this South African strain of the waterborne pathogen Vibrio cholerae will be mapped and annotated, thereby allowing an in-detail comparison with previously sequenced strains, most notably a seventh pandemic strain El Tor N16961.
