A surface trough extended over the central interior on the 1st and with the Atlantic Ocean high ridg-ing from the west over the country as well as a low along the east coast, isolated thundershowers and light rain in places occurred over the country, except over the Western Cape. Very hot to ex-tremely hot conditions prevailed in places over the Northern and Eastern Cape. It was also very hot in places over Mpumalanga, North-West, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. A surface trough extended over the central and eastern interior on the 2nd and with a high ridging south of the country, light rain occurred in places over Gauteng, North-West, the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal. It was very hot in places over Mpumalanga, the Limpopo Province, North-West, the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal, but very hot to extremely hot in places over the Northern Cape.
