oa De Rebus - The character bar

A special committee of the American Bar Association has come up with a plan to raise the ""standards of ethics and discipline"" in the legal profession, and at the same time cut back the number of people seeking to be lawyers. The committee's report, which has been approved ""in principle"" by the ABA's section of legal education, was sent to deans of all ABA-approved law schools last April for comment. The president of the ABA attached a memo explaining that, ""In all candor, I should tell you that grave concern has been expressed to me by judges, leaders of the organized bar, and citizens in general over the serious misconduct of some members of the legal profession.""
