In this digital age, data is the new gold. We live in a 'connected world', linked by an 'internet of things'. Every time we make a phone call, send an SMS, logon to a website, use an 'app', walk down the road with a cell phone in our pocket, or open a 'smart' refrigerator, little packets of data are sent and received. 'Big Brother' is here... Years ago now, marketers quickly figured out the utility of this data, using it to track our web-surfing habits, our interests, our current location and our usual daily routes and hang-outs.
