Abstract

A major challenge for the southern African fresh fruit industry is to provide its export markets with good quality fruit while adhering to legislative restrictions, such as minimum pesticide residue tolerances and phytosanitary requirements. The withdrawal of many agrochemicals is making the achievement of this objective difficult and any alternatives, especially non-pesticide options, should be investigated.
