Experiments on feeding inhibition and toxicity of ethanolic extracts of Tylophora indica, Eucalyptus camaldulensis and Callistemon lanceolatus were conducted against Spodoptera litura. Tylophora indica showed significantly higher feeding inhibition against fifth instar larvae at 5 % concentration than either E. camaldulensis or C. lanceolatus. The calculated EC50 value of T. indica extract was found to be 0.83 % and 1.01 % for fourth and fifth instar larvae, respectively. Tylophora indica also caused considerable larval mortality after 24 h, which increased to 94 % after 72 h, while E. camaldulensis and C. lanceolatus showed growth inhibition.
