Abstract

Scholars have detected various philosophical and religious ideas in the epigrams of Palladas and all agree that he was in this regard eclectic, selecting material and ideas as he needed or encountered them without becoming an adherent of any particular belief-system. This article scrutinises the epigrams that exhibit - or seem to exhibit - such influences and analyses the manner in which such material is incorporated into the epigrams.
