Extracted from text ... Editorial Sibonile Khoza We are pleased to present the second issue of the ESR Review for 2004. In this issue, Christopher Mbazira investigates the implications of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (Nepad) for the realisation of socio-economic rights in Africa. Although acknowledging Nepad's potential contribution to achieving sustainable development, he critiques, among other things, its failure to integrate a human rights approach to development. He argues that achieving Nepad's objectives depends on a commitment to its implementation.
