Continuing with our discussion of the soil analysis, we now come to phosphorous (P). South Africa's soils, unless they are fertilised, are generally deficient in this element, which usually measures no more than a few parts per million (ppm). Personally, I would avoid planting vegetables in soil where the content is below 20ppm, but we can get away with less for some crops.
