Abstract

Modimolle is a town located near the southern edge of the Waterberg Massif in Limpopo. The ecosystem can be characterised as a dry deciduous forest or bushveld. Modimolle receives on average 505mm of rain per year, with most occurring during summer. This is an area of mixed farming, producing field crops such as maize, soya, wheat and groundnuts, as well as cattle. Most farm sales now result in cropping farms being converted into game or cattle ranches.
