n Farmer’s Weekly - 30% wheat tariff increase : market analysis




It has been announced that the new wheat tariff will increase almost 30%, from R1 224/t to R1 600/t. This means that the tariff will constitute more than 32% of the domestic wheat price if a producer organisation successfully applies for the new tariff to be implemented. The Department of Trade and Industry has also received objections from industry role players about the wheat tariff unintentionally increasing due to the ongoing decline in the rand.
