Library Co -operation is a wide term stretching from the high fields of policy to those of simple routines. It is a subject. too, that may be, but should not be divided into separate compartments such as special library co-operation, or co-operation in University Libraries except that as these libraries have the same objective in view, it is often the tendency to look for common media for mutual aid and co-operation.

From the earliest days of the foundation of the University College Library at Achimota the importance of collecting. Africana had been clearly recognised, but the material was not arranged as a special collection until 1962. Prior to this time the many valuable gifts of Africana which were received from time to time were broken up and distributed around the library, the subject field taking precedence over the African context in arrangement.
