oa Ghana Library Journal - The responses of public libraries to educational expansion in Ghana: a review

Abstract

From the onset the public library was conceived as a means of providing reading material to support the phenomenal expansion in education in the country especially in the primary and secondary spheres. The response of the public library to the large increase of young readers is critically examined with regard to provision of stock, staffing and other facilities. Library facilities for other areas of education - post-middle, regular and private students are also examined.
