Editorial This issue of the journal highlights at least four main challenges to the higher education context: excessive managerialism, HIV / AIDS, student completion rates, and research, professional development and quality. First, on the subject of managerialism, it seems as if authors make a case for a complimentary view, that is, integrating the demands of a managerialist approach to higher education with indigenised approaches to governing higher education institutions.
