The moribund and deteriorating quality of education which has continued unabated impinges heavy traumatic effects on Nigerian citizens and the nation as a whole. Despites efforts of all stakeholders including dossiers of research findings by researchers and scholars the resolution seems farther than expected. The near total absence of counselling in the educational system has yet to receive attention as the missing link between efforts and success. As the 21st century unveils the need to advance and sustain educational ideals becomes paramount. This paper work proposes the establishment of a counselling championed human resource unit in our educational system. Basically, the foundation of its full implementation is hinged upon a well-organized and developed counselling programme in schools. This position is an attempt to explore the possibilities of introducing an utilizing a well design human resource development department (HRD) to facilitate students success in our Nigerian Educational system.
