oa IFE PsychologIA : An International Journal - A psychocultural study of health and development of English and Algerian adolescents

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate teacher's attitudes towards adolescents behaviour problems in Britain and Algeria. Wickman's rating scale was used by taking into consideration the administration of the scale, its duration, its validity, sensitivity and specificity. An attempt in this paper is made to identify the differences between two adolescent samples in two countries with value systems, cultural norms, health beliefs and behaviours different from each other. An analysis on how teachers perceive adolescents' behaviour and health in the two countries is provided. The results show that there are differences among teachcers in defining adolescents' problems in the two countries studied due to cultural variables.
