Man's continual quest for survival and the quality of life he desires has forced him to engage in various activities such as the provision of food and water, developing of shelter and living space and the provision of mobility. More often than not, these activities produce wastes that are disturbing and toxic. Consequently, there has been a growing practical concern about effective waste disposal methods in order to save man and his environment. An ugly development in the area of waste disposal is the issue of toxic waste dumping. Given the health consequences of toxic wastes in the environment, one then wonders why certain individuals, organizations and countries engage in the deadly act of waste dumping. This paper attempts to address this issue from an eco-ethical perspective.
