Abstract

Environmental problems occur at all stages of pollution of the natural environment. In the marine environment the problem is more serious when the pollutants arc absorbed in the food web of marine system. They arc as a result of disturbance of the natural habitat which included; dumping of raw sewage directly into the marine waters, chemical and oil spills. The input of oil to the Atlantic waters of Nigeria have been identified as a major source of environmental problem in Nigeria's marine waters. This paper reveals that marine pollution have caused serious setback to the orderly progress, economic and social advancement of the territorial communities.
