oa IFE PsychologIA : An International Journal - Adult developmental tasks as platforms for building a result oriented literacy education programmes



The paper is concerned with the use of developmental tasks Havighurst (1972) as platforms on which literacy education programmes could be built. It is observed that the concepts of developmental tasks depicts learning ability as a function of age which are primarily associated with how individuals develop and change. Strategies for identifying these tasks are discussed. Both naturalistic inquiry method and the designing of a survey instrument are considered to be the most appropriate strategies for identifying developmental tasks of adults.
