Many studies using information integration theory and innvolving Western samples, have shown the attribution of blame to be based on degree of intent, and gravity of consequences, the two degrees being simply additive in their effects. The authors studied the form this schema can take among Burkina Faso adolescents and young adults. Although group results resembled that observed in American samples, individual results differed.
