oa IFE PsychologIA : An International Journal - Some aspects of the adolescent sexual behaviour

Abstract

The incidence of teenage pregnancies is on the increase in many countries. One reason to explain the phenomenon is the tendency among adolescents to engage in unprotected sex notwithstanding the numerous health, socio-economic and educational implications. Parents and adults in the society have therefore the tasks to reverse the trend by changing their attitudes and initiating communication on matters of sex and contraception with their children and adolescents. This would go a long way to change the perception of adolescents on contraceptive knowledge and use.
