Currently, Dutch scientists are perfecting the world's first test tube hamburger made from bovine stem cells. It's expected to be revealed to the world by British chef Heston Blumenthal in October. Although the price tag for this particular burger is estimated at €250,000 (over R2 million), the aim is to eventually ease the environmental impact of traditional animal-rearing methods, while providing a sustainable food source for the world's starving millions.
