Today's food and beverage manufacturers are challenged with meeting the demands of the ever-changing regulatory schemes worldwide. The looming Food Safety Modernisation Act (FSMA) in the US is forcing companies to consider improvements in governance; regulations placed on those producing in or exporting to Europe will become more rigorous in the wake of the region's meat scandal; and, while many South African companies are becoming comfortable with the R146 introduced last year, phase two is still expected sometime.
